alternative definition added over 15 years ago by Istvan Miko
A distinct groove originating at either the lateral ocellus or the lateral side of the torulus (depending on the taxon) and lining the inner orbit of the eye, terminating at the clypeal margin after fusing with or paralleling the malar sulcus. In Rhabdeucoela, the orbital furrow originates at the lateral ocellus, but runs ventrally across the face and does not line the inner orbit of the eye.
